Quick Tip: Gear Search Lists

I’ve been wowheading a lot, and use the same searches over and over. So here is my list for easy re-use.

pre-Cata Leveing Boost

Saw a post by everyone’s favourite Greedy Goblin, which had an excellent tip as Cata Prep. TLDR is complete but do not hand in as many quests as you can; and when Cata launches you’ll be able to do a quick hand-in and jump start leveling.

He also suggested saving your hearth to a city on the main continents, rather than Dalaran as the portals will be removed. I am not sure where the new 80-81 quest hubs will be, but a major city is a good idea till we do.

Sometimes that goblin is darn clever. Go read for his other prep thoughts.

How to (not) raise your Weapon Skill

Quick note, as one of the most popular posts I’ve made is about how to raise your weapon skill, Google searchers should not that in Cataclysm the concept of a weapon skill will be removed from the game. Having spent a long time swinging at low mobs, I really like that I don’t have to micromanage a set of skills. It is a good change.

So I’d say if you’ve not got that feat of Strength achievement, then get it now.

And if you have no interest in the achievement, then don’t burn the time raising the skill – as you won’t have to. Go read a book, grind for that rare drop, or farm gold and send it to me.

Happy killing.

More mount madness

The Instance #179 & #180 talks about new mounts, and by all things holy I think we can go way past riding Hoverboards and Wasps, we can reference the fun ideas in a shared topic on Blog Azeroth, which started it up for me a while back in August 2008.

We might soon see submarines, and all sorts of oceanic mounts. I expect I’ll never see the phoenix or another ultra-low-drop-rate mount, but some of the stuff the Instance crew talk about in #179, and touch on in #180 is interesting.

Just saying its a great thing to add in an expansion, gives breadth of fun to everyone, and has no balance issues to speak of really. And I kind of support a Jetpack for Engineers; more so it can explode or go out of control.
