There is a certain ratio between grinding, raiding and madness – a tipping point if you like – where everything starts to become surreal. I’m in that place now, staring outward from the game wondering where the game ends and what effect it is having on me.
I will not longer be pugging Halls of Reflection. Occulus was bad enough, HoR is just too painful to be worth running. The ever increasing levels of poor performance, strange group make-up, and overall crappy experiences over and over make that dungeon the last choice I’d ever make.
I’ll do Uldaman or Gnomeregan twice in Fire Festival gear before HoR with a random group again. It just sucks as you are far too dependent on so many factors that allow a poor run. Seriously.
Here is a feature suggestion:
Allow us to select 3 dungeons that we never wish to run again as 5 mans in the LFD tool.
It will do two things. Firstly show you which are hated the most, and secondly will mean that groups will not get pissed when “team” mates leave because they are god damn frustrated, tired, and lost all hope of a successful run.
Happy killing (everywhere except HoR).
ps. I know this is about as unlikely as Blizzard sending me a large suitcase full of unmarked bills, or a Beta invite, but it has to be said so I can stay sane.
My toon called Erosion was an Undead Rogue. He was bad and I loved the fact he was built for the purpose of killing Topper McNabb. But that is history and we all know that (a) Erosion gets worse of over time, and (b) I love a good experiment.
So to make Erosion worse I’ve re-rolled the character name as a Dwarf Hunter.
I’ve always bitched about hunters. A lot. Its not that I didn’t like them per-say, but I always found that 40% of the bad players were Hunters (I know that they now all re-rolled Death Knight, but hey).
But I have a confession…I rolled one. [ insert dramatic music ] Well I’ve rolled them before, but this one is potentially different. Usually this means getting 3 levels of Huntery goodness and deciding that I hate it and stopping. Sometimes I get near level 8 and think it might be ok, and once I got to level 10 and then couldn’t be farked.
This time though I’ve reached over level 10 and tamed a pet. By god that makes a difference.
Anyone who thought the Death Knight was easy had better re-roll Hunter and see what a click-to-kill experience farming is like. A typical combat goes like this:
- Target mob with left click
- press 1 to start macro for Hunter’s Mark and PetAttack
- press 2 for Concussive shot
- press 3 for Arcane shot
- let the autoshots flood by
It could not be easier than that! If I fart around with a cast sequence macro, and use tab targeting I’m sure I can get this down to something that a Drinking Water Duck can do.
The worst part fo all this: its fun.
Did you know that Hannalore at Egotistical “hates” Warlocks; but in a good way imho. She hates us soul drinkers because we are selfish, evil, and a bit emo. Heeeeellllllooooo, its called Warlock!
To get even close to the Uber-Emo meter they would have to introduce an undead black-tinted fallen hero, who struggles daily with the path between good and evil. And thats not going to happen, not for weeks yet.
If you hate Warlocks Hanna, I can’t wait to see what you make of Death Knights. I love the haters, it pisses them off.
A few Warock powers get a mention, and the anti-Fear banner is dragged yet again into the post. My advice, get used to fear. Its staying and if you don’t like it go get one of the many trinkets, buffs and items that make it easy to counter-act. Fear is no longer the “I WIN” button it was 2 years ago. Continue reading
